Last night

You know you've been camping too long when your memory card is full of pictures of rocks and trees and you just used a toaster (yep, you read that right.  a toaster) to dry your hair because there's no hair dryers in cabins.  However, we did finally find a restaurant that made pina coladas for dinner tonight, so, on our last night, it is now OFFICIALLY a vacation.

:)  Happy last day!

Harry!

This was from one of the filming sites of Harry and the Hendersons!  :)

BIGFOOT!

Hahahahahahahahaha.  I love it here.  Check out the forest ranger notice!  And bigfoot cookies....totally rock.  Oatmeal-peanutbutter-chocolatechip-pecan.  Bigfoot has excellent taste in cookies!

Day 6 - mysterious totems appear overnight!

Ok...so yesterday while we were hiking we saw ANOTHER squatch totem.  So we thought that was pretty cool - totems at Mt. Rainier and up here on the Snohomish!  But then when we went out hiking this morning....in this very secluded area in the middle of nowhere....there was a NEW totem, just 10 feet or so from the one we saw yesterday!  Definitely was not there yesterday.  Had to be a sasquatch.  :)

toasted marshmellows!

Life is good.

Note to self...

Just for future reference....the beauty of a clawfoot tub in the bathroom is totally and immediately outweighted by the annoying factor when one has to shower in said clawfoot tub!!
Loving a Bathtub?: Unique Black Clawfoot Tub

Trail Cam installed at site 2!

We're ready for a squatch sighting!  Look at the amazing flowers growing in a tree right outside the cabin!

whew~ it's great!

But it all turned out ok; thank goodness...another home run!  Looks very squatchy up in here.  :)

Hmmm....maybe we should turn back!

Note the "street signs" to our cabin.  We turned onto a creepy gravel/dirt road, past a cabin with goats and chickens...up into the woods....way up into the woods.....this looks a lot like the beginning of a horror movie.

PIE~ and vodka!

While looking for lunch, accidentally ended up at the Index Mountain Distillery, which does not have food...and was the kind of place where the owner comes out to talk to you....so we couldn't leve without sampling the local fare, and ended up with a bottle of locally made Coriander flavored Vodka.  It is yummy, very strong, and I am not quite sure what I'm going to do with a bottle of this stuff (and just 2 days left in the trip).

We finally found a diner in a town called Sultan that had the BEST coconut cream pie.  Vodka and pie - not that's a vacation! :)

Can't wait to explore our new home base!

Wallace park

Stopped on our way to the Wild Lily (our final cabin of the trip) and visited Wallace State Park.  The power lines running through it throw off a hum you can feel, but it was a fabulous hike - more amazing scenery!  I had to tap out 2 miles into the hike though - it was turning into more of a mountain climb than I could handle!

Last Seattle Sights

So we hit out last few Seattle sights this morning - the science center, which has a lovely Chihuily (sp?) exhibit and some ridiculously awesome flowers growing outside it (see pic!), the space needle, and a fabulous little restaurant called "Biscuit Bitch"...because with a name like that you have to go.  The biscuits were totally worth it.  Awesomeness. Plus we got to say "bitch" repeatedly while ordering, because all of the food items have that in their title.  This was oddly amusing.

Flower garden sculpture

Came across this in our wanderings... I like the sculpture, but I LOVE the shadows it throws - so beautiful!!  Yay Seattle!

We're getting closer!!!

Ok, we haven't found Bigfoot here in Seattle.  But we DID find his autobiography (in a store that also sells inflatable unicorn horns for your cat, none-the-less).  We've visited Elliott's Oyster house (didn't eat any), took photos with the local art, ate awesome maple walnut bread pudding in a divey little shop, took a harbour cruise (see the space needle growing out of my head?) and are back at the hotel giving our feet a break before we head out for the afternoon!  Maybe we'll find Sasquatch then.  :)

On the water

Had a lovely time with Joey and Lori last night - Judy and Zev popped by with the boys (we were on Joey's boat), so we got to meet them for the first time, but then we just hung out with Lori and Joey and talked and laughed and had a wonderful time.  Excellent evening all around!

Today we're looking forward to seeing some of Seattle (so many awesome things to check out, so little time!) and then re-hooking up with family for dinner.  I'll try to remember to actually take some family pics tonight!!

Wildife refuge, Bigfoot Tavern

Had an amazing latte (yay, Washington coffee!) from a little shop near the "Bigfoot Tavern", hit up a lovely wildlife preserve on our drive out of Mt. Rainier, and left some truly awesome bigfoot artwork on the table at lunch.  Now we've arrived at the Inn at the Market; our room overlooks Pike's Place Market and it's awesome - meeting up with Lori and Joey to go boating tonight!  :)

SQUATCH SIGHTING!

Ok, kidding.  But another perfect morning in the woods.

Oh, mascara, how I've missed you!!

Happy day!  We have luggage!  I have hair goo!!  Ahhhhhh. So happy!
Rainier cherries at breakfast, and a picture of my finger bunny for you this morning.

Gonna be a good day, tater.  :)
