Day 1 of Squatchhunt 2014...started with us safely arriving in Washington...while our luggage made it's way to Chicago. We've been assured it will arrive...eventually. So after a quick trip to Target to get at least enough basics to get through a few days, we headed to the cabin (I have no make up, and no hair goo. I might die). On the way, we passed - no exaggeration - HUNDREDS of amazing old cars on the road - either a massive show was up here this weekend or the people of this part of the world are over-the-top awesome.
The cabin is enchanting. It's perfect and amazing and like a little fairy tale. The woods are a spiritual experience - the trees are huge and sweeping and the air is sweet and cool. We took a long walk in the woods, and saw bear and deer prints, and one that definitely looked a bit squatchy. We also found totem rocks WAY back in the woods....which were probably made by other hikers. but if Matt Moneymaker were here, he'd say it was totally a Sasquatch.
Amazing, fabulous, awesome day. Tomorrow we hike Mt. Rainier!!
